Politics as usual

The South Carolina Republican Governor should resign. Over the years many politicians have been caught having extramarital affairs. This include Democrats and Republicans. Sanford apparently is confused as to which party he belongs to. Because Democrats seem to think it is OK to continue after getting caught, Republicans resign. Just look at Newt Gingrich verses Bill Clinton.

Humans will find humor, how ever warped and twisted, in just about anything. One joke about Sanford proves the point. He is not in trouble with conservatives for having an affair, he is in trouble for off shoring it.

It is also amusing to watch the main stream press go absolutely nuts over Sarah Palin's resignation. I have to admit I like Sarah, she is not a professional politician. It has been sad watching the liberal press and Democratic mud slinging machine going after her like a pack of wolves. On the other hand they should be careful, that lady hunts and kills wolves.

4 gone

Most of world has marked the passing three well know figures, Ed McMann, Farrah Fawcett, and Micheal Jackson. I always liked Johnny Carson and him and Ed were two parts of the same package. Every male who grew up in 1970's knew of Farrah's famous poster. I was amused by a quote attributed to her, "when our show was number 3 I though it was because of our acting, when hit number 1 I knew it was because none us wore a bra". I was never able to reconcile the young Micheal Jackson I used to watch on TV with what he had become.

To these three I would like to add another, Father Mike our parish priest passed way this week after a short battle with cancer. He had long ago made his peace with god and chose not under go the usual attempts are chemo or radiation.

I hope we all are brave enough to face our demise with the same grace that he did.

Bad Jokes

David Letterman is in the news for his tasteless joke about the Palin daughter and A Rod. Personally I always preferred Jay Leno. While both are left wingers, Jay is a closer to the middle then most Hollywood types.

Should Letterman be fired, or retired, or taken off the air. I don't think so. I don't like the man. I like him even less after the joke and his half hearted apology, but I believe in freedom of speech. Which is one of the areas where I differ from the radical left. I don't see Letterman's joke to be any worse, or any better then what others have said like Don Imus and going way back Jimmy the Greek. Yet they were both fired for their comments. Even after they apologized. The only difference was the race of victim. It appears the left thinks it is OK to slander white conservatives, just don't dare to talk that way about a black, or hispanic, or gay.

I don't think you should talk that way about anyone and I don't believe in double standards.

Right Wing Extremist equals Terrorist

As proud military veteran, as a believer that the Federal government should not impose their will on the States or local communities, as person who thinks taxes are too high and the government is wasteful in its spending habits, and perhaps most of all as a person who thinks the true purpose of the 2nd amendment was not for hunting or self defense, but instead was to keep our elected officials honest and responsive to the people lest we rebel, the department of homeland security now considers me a right wing radical equal as dangerous to them as other terrorists.

Our descent into socialist hell is well under way.

Oh yeah now that the elections over he innocent

I am not sure what would be worse have a corrupt prosecutor or an inept one.

Ted Stevens served his country for many years a Senator from Alaska. He lost the election in 2008. Without a doubt he lost because of the guilty verdict in his trial for taking kickbacks. Even though found guilty, he nearly won. But not that the election is over, evidence has been found that bring the raises serious questions about the case. So serious that the Attorney General has decide not only should the verdict be overturned, but that they will not retry the case.

Why would he want it retried? After all the Democrat won the election. That is all he really cares about. More power and more control. Integrity, honor, doing the right thing, even law and order are foreign concepts the Democrats. After all many Democrats have done far worse then Ted Stevens and they continue to serve insisting that they have done nothing wrong.

I wonder why anyone would not want to be a Democrat, you can get away with DUI, take bribes (just don't hide the money in freezer), get 0% mortgages on your condo in the Caribbean, and lets not forget you don't even have to pay your taxes.

As a Republican, even when not guilty, you will be punished.

So why do I still consider myself a Republican? I guess I am just a throw back to an earlier time when morality meant doing what was right even if no one was looking.

In the World

To keep my mind of the mess my country is in I recently started playing World Of Warcraft. I am an old gamer. I started with war game and pencil and paper role playing games back in high school. I've played the original Dungeons and Dragons, as well as other RPG such as Traveller. Once I purchased a PC I made the move to computer based single person RPG, such as Bards Tale and the old Gold Box series of D&D. I even got involved in a very early multiperson online RPG on Qlink. I then moved away from RPG and started playing more simulation games and war games.

Deciding I wanted to get involved again I went looking for a good multiperson online game. I tried several, but decided to join Tabula Rasa, unfortunately not many of us did and it end up folding.

Looking for a replacement I decided on World Of Warcraft. Ia casual player who likes to experiment. My main character is a Human Mage GrayRaven, named after a old D&D character. I also have many other characters so I can expereiment with different classes, races, and professions. They all have Raven in the names. As I am experimenting. None have gotten very far, GrayRaven my mage is a level 30, HolyRaven my Paladin is level 23. The rest are in their teens.

If you are on the Kirin Tor server look me up in game or send me in game mail.

Leno

The anointed one was on Leno last night. I give a lot of credit to Leno, he kept to his normal format and treated him as more or less just another guest. He even told jokes about the current administration.

The talking heads in the media and trying to make fuss about the bowling – special Olympic joke. While I don’t think it was all that funny, I also don’t see it a big deal. I wonder is the media is just applying their normal over top political correctness, if they are picking a minor issue to criticize knowing that it will blow over quickly without any damage, or if they are starting to turn on him?

I suppose it could be the first reason, but the media normally lets the politicians they like get away with minor, and even sometimes major, gaffs. They also almost never criticize members of the protected minorities.

If I were a conspiracy nut, I might go for the second reason. A carefully thought out plan to criticize some minor issue so if accused of being biased, they can point to it as evidence of the fairness. This of course supposes that the media still tries to project an image of fairness. Anyone one who watched the coverage of the last election should know that media is no longer even trying to be objective.

I must confess I also find the last reason not very convincing. After the overwhelming support given to Obama during the election, for the media to turn on him not would require that they admin they were wrong. I see about as much chance of that as I do his fellow democrats taking responsibility for the economic mess that have created. I have yet to see a Democrat take responsibility for anything.
